Although many species of invertebrates, amphibians, and reptiles are in plentiful numbers in the wild, some are not, and many we simply don't know enough about. Some species are being collected in large numbers from quite localised populations. This may have devastating long term effects on these species in the wild.

Captive bred animals are typically free of parasites, of known age, we know how to keep them and can pass on useful information which will help your success, and you are not contributing to the exploitation of some fragile wild populations.

Unless you are trying to establish captive-bred populations of species that are not readily available in the hobby in order to prevent further collecting of wild populations, please try to refrain from purchasing wild-caught whenever possible.

It would be a great shame if the very people fascinated by these animals were to contribute to their demise by supporting the mass wild collection of them.
